  • How do I find disabled users?

Posted on May 19th, 2009Customer SupportFAQs

To find disabled users you first need to verify that you can see them. There is an option in the Admin section called View Disabled Users. Enable this option to show disabled users. Disable it to hide them.

Follow the steps below to find disabled users.

    1. Go to: Admin > System Settings > Main Settings > Users > View Disabled Users.

    2. Enable this option if it is disabled. Remember to click the Save Changes button if you enabling the option.

    3. Go to: Users > Search

    4. Click the ALL link at the top right of the Search page to see the full list of users. Alternatively, use the search fields for a more precise search if you have information about the disabled users you are trying to find. For example, if you know the office of the user, use the Office field to speed up your search.

    5. Scan the list for user names that are displayed in a dark gray color. These are the disabled users.

  • How do I select multiple menu options when working with search pages and reports?

Posted on December 3rd, 2008Customer SupportFAQs

There are several screens in Vertabase that use HTML multiple-select menus. These menus allow you to select more than one option simultaneously before clicking a Save or Submit button. For example, the Advanced Search section of the Global Task Report page uses the following multiple-select menus among others: User, Department, and Project. You can select more than one user to indicate that you wish to see tasks assigned to the users selected. By selecting three projects you would be able to see tasks belonging only to the three projects selected.

To use these menus for selecting options, follow the guidelines listed below.

    1. Selecting only one option

To select one and only one option from the menu, simply use your mouse to point and click the desired option. The chosen option will become highlighted to indicate selection. If you need to change which option is selected, use the mouse to point and click the desired alternative option.

    2. Selecting more than one option where the options are listed consecutively

If you need to select more than one option, and these options are listed one after the other (consecutively) in the list, you can easily select several options simultaneously using the mouse alone or a combination of the keyboard and mouse.

Using the mouse alone, point and click the top-most option among the list that should be selected. Make sure that when clicking the option you hold the mouse button down (do not release it yet). Next, drag the mouse pointer down the list. You will notice that while dragging the mouse all options passed over by the mouse are highlighted. Once you have highlighted all the desired options, release the mouse button.

Using a combination of the keyboard and mouse, start by using the mouse to point and click the top-most option among the list that should be selected. Next, hold the Shift button down on your keyboard as you use the mouse to point and click the bottom-most option among the list to be selected. Release the Shift button. You will notice that the top-most, bottom-most and all options in between have been highlighted.

    3. Selecting more than one option where the options are not listed consecutively

In cases where the desired options are not listed consecutively in the menu, a combination of the keyboard and mouse are required. Select items by holding the CTRL button down on the keyboard while using the mouse to point and click each desired option. Continue to hold the CTRL button down until you have clicked all the options you wish. Once finished selecting the options, release the CTRL button. After releasing the CTRL button, you can continue to select additional options by holding the CTRL button down again before clicking them.

IMPORTANT: If you fail to hold the CTRL button down while attempting to highlight more options you will lose all of your previous selections. They will be de-selected and you will have to start selecting options all over again. This could be to your advantage if your intention is to start over again.

    4. De-selecting a single option

When working with a list of menu options (or a single option) that have already been highlighted, you may wish to de-select a single option. This is done by holding the CTRL button down on your keyboard as you click the highlighted option. The highlight will be removed from the option. Once you have finished with the changes, release the CTRL button.

  • How should my web browser be configured to use Vertabase?

Posted on November 25th, 2008Customer SupportFAQs

There are a few requirements for the web browser used to access Vertabase. These requirements are listed below.

    1. Ensure that Java is installed and enabled in your web browser. Java is needed to view the Gantt charts. You can download Java here: http://www.java.com.

    2. Configure your web browser to allow pop-up windows from Vertabase. Vertabase uses several pop-up windows for data input and system messages.

    3. Do not use the web browser’s own navigation options such as Back, Forward and Refresh while using Vertabase. Use Vertabase menus and options exclusively. Using the browser options can lead to navigation problems.

    4. Do not have multiple people simultaneously logged into Vertabase using the same user account. Multiple, simultaneous log-ins can lead to system problems and data loss.

    5. Always access Vertabase using a direct, simple link. If you access Vertabase using a saved link in the browser, a link received through email, or a link from your browser’s Favorites or Bookmarks list, you must edit the link first. You will notice that when using Vertabase, the browser address bar has random letters and numbers attached to the web address. These characters look something like this:
    /frameset.cfm?CFID=108406&CFTOKEN=aef03d33af7ecef7-C181 …
    or
    /login.cfm?CFID=108406&CFTOKEN=aef03d33af7ecef7-C181 …
The characters after the slash (”/”) character should not be part of the web address used to log into Vertabase. The address you use to log in should have these characters removed. You can easily remove them by editing the web address stored in your Favorites or Bookmarks list.

  • What happens when Timesheets are disabled?

    (0)
Posted on November 21st, 2008Customer SupportFAQs

Timesheets can be completely turned off in Vertabase using the option “Use Timesheets” found here: Admin > Main Settings > Timesheets. While turned off it is not possible to submit time with effective work dates for that same time period (i.e. the period of time in which the timesheets were turned off). For example, if the Timesheets were turned off this week, then turned on next week, later on you would not be able to submit timesheet entries for hours worked this week.

If you prefer to suspend timesheet use rather than shut it off completely, you could leave timesheets turned on using the Admin > Main Settings page and simply disable access to timesheets by adjusting your access levels. For each access level (except Admin) you should disable the options: “Add Timesheets to assigned projects” and “Add Timesheets to other company projects”. Once you are ready to have your users use timesheets again, simply re-enable these options.
